Beautiful nails are an add-on to your charm. Many of us are really fond of styling nails by nail-art or other means. But, what if your nails are not strong enough to grow properly? Brittle nails are even worse. There can be many reasons for weak or brittle nails such as long-term use of nail polish, over-exposure to water, aging, hyper or hypothyroidism, psoriasis, lung conditions, eczema, anaemia, fungal infection, etc. Whatever the reason may be, brittle nails always cause discomfort as they get cracked and chipped easily. The good news is that you can treat weak and brittle nails right at home. Here is a list of natural remedies for strengthening brittle nails.
1.Coconut essential Oil
Coconut oil consists of saturated fats which help to moisturize the nails and nourishes them. The ingredients required to prepare the coconut oil nourisher for your nails include coconut oil and lemon juice. Fill a 1/4th cup with pure coconut oil. Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice to it. Mix these two ingredients well and let them sit for a while. Dip your nails in this mixture for a duration of 10 minutes. Repeat this process daily for best results. It is preferred to drip your nails before bedtime and wear gloves afterwards so as to allow the mixture to seep inside the nails.
2.Sea Salt remedy for stronger nails
Sea salt helps to fight nail related problems. It also helps to nourish the tissues beneath the nails. It makes the nails shiny and stronger by increasing the blood flow circulation in them. The ingredients required include sea salt, lemon, lukewarm water and myrrh oil. Heat water in a pan and ensure that it’s not too hot. Add 2 tablespoons of sea salt, 2 drops of lemon and myrrh oil. Mix these ingredients and allow them to sit for a while. Soak your nails in this mixture for 10 minutes and allow your nails to soak in as much of this mixture as possible. Rinse off the mixture using normal water and pat dry. You can apply a moisturizer if required. Repeat this process twice a week for best results. Use this method preferably before going to bed and wear gloves or wrap your nails in a soft cloth to allow the moisturiser to soak in.
3.Vitamin E capsules
Vitamin E helps to moisturise and keep the body hydrated. Nails too require Vitamin E for growth. Vitamin E helps to make the nails stronger and adds a shine to them. Slice open 4 Vitamin E capsules in half and extract its oil. Pour this oil in a cup or bowl. Add a few drops of coconut oil to this bowl and apply this mixture on your nails. Massage this mixture in a circular motion over your nails. This helps to increase the blood circulation around your nails. For best results repeat this process daily.
4.Lemon Juice for stronger nails
Lemon juice is a rich source of Vitamin C which helps to strengthen the nails and helps in their growth. The ingredients required include lemon juice and olive oil. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice in a bowl and add 3 tablespoons of olive oil to it. Mix the ingredients well and allow it to sit for a while. Heat the bowl for a duration of 5 minutes over a shimmering flame. Apply this mixture on your nails using a cotton ball and leave it on. Its best to use this process before bedtime. Wearing gloves after this process helps the nails to soak in the mixture faster. Repeat this process daily for 2 weeks, for best results.
