Healthy Diet For Women Breast Cancer Survivors
Miss any “diet” or nutrition pattern that has proven successful in improving breast cancer survival chances (or reduction).
In general, breast cancer survivors can benefit from a healthy diet (described below) recommended for everyone, because it promotes health and protects against several diseases, including different types of cancer.
Obesity or obesity among breast cancer survivors leads to the risk of death from recurrent breast cancer, or total death (death from any cause, not necessarily breast cancer).
To maintain a healthy weight, the weight mass index (length in meters x length in meters / body weight in kg) must range between 18.5 and 24.9
•Eat at least two and a half cups of fruits and vegetables every day.
• Choice of breakfast cereals and bread of whole grains, brown rice, smoked and quinoa.
• Reduce the consumption of red meat and processed meat, with the choice of chicken, fish and legumes in return.
• Limit the intake of bad fats (saturated and unsaturated), which are available in: red meat, fatty cold meat, poultry skins, whole fat dairy products, fried foods, ghee, donuts and microwaves.
• Eat “good” fats ie polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats, which are available in foods such as: olive oil, canola oil, nuts, natural walnuts, avocados, olives.
Physical activities :
Analysis of data collection of more than 13,000 breast cancer survivors showed that those who were more active had a better life.
There was a 30% lower mortality rate among survivors, who performed 3 or more hours of moderate walking during the week compared with less active women.
In general, breast cancer survivors may not need intensive exercise to get benefit. A study concluded that an activity, such as a 30-minute brisk walk, improves chances of survival, several times a week.
In this context, the American Cancer Society recommends survivors of breast cancer to:
• Distance from inactivity, with the resumption of normal daily activity as soon as possible after diagnosis.
• Regular physical activity (at least 150 minutes per week).
• Perform strength training (weight lifting, discus, javelin …) at least twice a week.
Physical activity helps survivors of breast cancer, in: improve body image, mood, energy, movement and quality of life, also maintains bone health and reduces fatigue, tension and anxiety.
In the past, there has been some concern about the role of sports in increasing the risk of lymphatic edema (swelling usually occurs in one or both arms or legs, due to removal or damage of the lymph nodes, as part of cancer treatment or treatment.
